Fractal

X+Y Not

our newest work about...algebra!

Premiering

June 16 & 17, 2017  8:00 pm

Zuzi! Dance Theater

at the Historic Y in downtown Tucson

In this dance, Tucson favorite Sherry Mulholland (Funhouse dance theater) and Billbob Brown undertake the dubious tasks of parabolic curves and nonlinear equations, projected through and around them, as they ultimately fall off the cliff of real numbers and fly through the infinity of numbers in an upside down ballet!

SNEAK PEEKS AT THE VIDEO DESIGNS:

Doing the Bump, when X=Y, X>Y or X<Y

Sine waves, a lot like Middle Eastern dancing!

Our bodies are like algebra!  All moves can be graphed!

x = horizonal moves, side pathways

y = verticel moves, up and down pathways

z = sagittal moves, forward back pathways

Several-second sneak preview of video/set design:

FULL 10 1/2 minute version of video design as of 5/29/17:

Notes:

1. The "people" (tiny boxes) in this are too short: each projection box is 3 feet high; the middle stacks are therefore 9 feet high.

2.  Red lines which show up on this video are not part of the final design; they're just for aligning images while I work.

3.  The side and inbetween lights (non-box lighting) is not correct in timing or color but at least you can get an idea.

4.  Sometimes the images are on the dancers too, sometimes dancers are in between the images.

5.  I provide my own projector and laptop, and use an assistant to help move through some of the configurations.
